Online Sales Increasing

As a positive sign of economic recovery and consumer confidence, E-retail sales increased by 12% in Q1 . Interestingly, many retailers are finding that their online sales are increasing at a notably higher rate than their offline sales. Examples of this include, shopNBC, JC Penny, HSN, and Kohl’s. These numbers show that consumers have cash to spend, are comfortable shopping on websites, and sometimes even prefer the online experience.

Having a detailed online catalog helps to ensure that consumers are not only able to find your products, but that they feel comfortable enough with the information to click the “buy now” button. Consumers want to see the products from all angles, have all their questions about the specs/attributes answered, and know that they will be happy with this product when it arrives in their mailbox. Part of this means having a product description that not only answers these questions but also helps them to “feel” the product.

For retailers with a large number of products, outsourcing the content development provides the consumer with the complete experience they are looking for while saving on resource costs.
